At the last @longbeachclt Monthly meeting, we looked at ways to build power together, from forming tenant associations to having organizing conversations.

Organizing is about trust, relationships, and knowing the people around you. Through storytelling circles, neighbors shared moments of showing up for each other and moments when support was needed.

Building stronger neighborhoods starts with moments of collective care.

En la última reunión mensual de @longbeachclt, exploramos formas de construir poder colectivo, desde formar asociaciones de inquilinos hasta tener conversaciones de organización comunitaria.

La organización comunitaria se construye a través de la confianza, la conexión humana y conocer a quienes nos rodean. A través de círculos de historias, compartimos momentos en donde recibimos apoyo de nuestros vecinos y momentos donde se necesitaba.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Spring “Building Relationship to Place” Nature Walk with the @longbeachclt and Tecolote of @mama_maiz & @flora_y_tierra 🌿

It was a beautiful day walking together through Willow Springs Park, learning about local native plants, and deepening our relationship with the land. We’re grateful to everyone who came out to share in the experience.

Gracias a todos los que se unieron a la caminata por la naturaleza de primavera “Construyendo una relación con el lugar”, organizada por @longbeachclt y Tecolote de Mama Maiz y Flora y Tierra 🌿

Fue un día hermoso, caminando juntos por el parque Willow Springs, aprendiendo sobre las plantas nativas locales y profundizando nuestra relación con la tierra. Estamos agradecidos con todos los que asistieron para compartir esta experiencia.

Last month, @longbeachclt members gathered to connect, share stories, and shape the future of community-owned housing.

A special thank you to Mariana with @fctl_2019 for joining us and sharing insights about Mariana’s journey from tenant to CLT board member after the CLT purchased the building where Mariana lives.

Members also had a fun time sharing their talents, skills, and creativity which will guide future learnings and collective growth!

El mes pasado, miembros de @longbeachclt se reunieron para conectar, compartir historias y dar forma al futuro de la vivienda de propiedad comunitaria.

Un agradecimiento especial a Mariana de @fctl_2019 por acompañarnos y compartir reflexiones sobre el camino de Mariana, de inquilina a miembro de la junta del CLT, después de que el CLT compró el edificio donde vive.

You’re invited to join the third installment in the “Building Relationships to Place” nature walk series!

Join the Long Beach CLT & Tecolote of @mama_maiz and @flora_y_tierra as we visit local native plant restoration sites throughout Long Beach. With over a decade of experience, Tecolote is an herbalist, naturalist, and community care practitioner whose work is rooted in traditional medicine and land stewardship. This is an especially important location for Tecolote as they tended the land at Willow Spring for 7 years. Come hear from their personal experience and deep relationship to this native habitat.

Con más de una década de experiencia, Tecolote es herbalista, naturalista y practica de cuidado comunitario, cuyo trabajo se basa en la medicina tradicional y la gestión del territorio. Este es un lugar especialmente importante para Tecolote, ya que cuidaban la tierra en Willow Spring durante 7 años. Ven a conocer su experiencia personal y su profunda relación con este hábitat nativo.
