Treasurer, Member Representative
Audrena Redmond, is the Anti-Racism and Social Justice Director for the California Faculty Association, the largest post-secondary higher education labor union in the country. Her work is multi-faceted and matrixed throughout the organization; it includes identifying policy and practice changes, strategic campaign development, building internal and external relationships, creating and facilitating anti-racism workshops, organizing annual equity conferences and periodically hosting podcast series.
Nurtured in progressive values of community, collective responsibility, and the power of Black lives to and in America, Audrena is a founding leader of Black Lives Matter Long Beach. The BLM chapter was a significant partner in the development of the city’s Racial Recognition Framework and successfully advocated for additional funding for the Health Department and alternatives to policing. Presently the chapter is engaged with community partners fighting for fair and affordable housing, as well as, justice for street vendors.
Audrena has taught part time in the Labor Studies Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She feels fortunate to have a profession, political and social activism that align with her values and beliefs.
